Editorial and accuracy policy

Accuracy

Every figure is taken from a primary government or regulator source and stored with that source and a verification date. Calculations are tested against official formulas before publication. Each tool page shows the tax year its data is verified for and the date it was last updated.

Independence

Content is not sponsored. If the site ever carries advertising or affiliate links, they will be labelled, will never influence a calculation or an explanation, and will never appear inside a tool.

Scope and advice

Tools and explanations are general information for Canadian residents. They are not tax, legal, investment or mortgage advice, and they cannot account for your full situation. Confirm important decisions with a qualified professional.

Corrections

Report errors through the contact page. Confirmed errors are corrected promptly and logged in the changelog with the date and the nature of the change. Material corrections to a calculation are noted on the affected tool page.

Updates

Annual figures are updated when the CRA and provinces publish them, normally in November and December for the following January. Mid-year legislative changes are applied when enacted. Key facts, sources and worked examples are regenerated from the data files each time.
