Canada Child Benefit Calculator (July 2026 to June 2027)

See what the Canada Child Benefit pays you each month, tax-free, for your children's ages and your family income. You also get your provincial child benefit, the payment dates, and how the amount changes as each child turns 6 and 18. It uses last year's family net income, as the CRA does each July.

$
For July 2026 to June 2027 the CRA uses your 2025 net income (line 23600) plus your spouse's or partner's. Roughly your combined income before tax, after RRSP and childcare deductions. A change in 2026 income does not count until next July.
Your children's ages

Maximum = $8,157 per child under 6 + $6,883 per child 6 to 17 (July 2026 to June 2027). Below $38,237 of adjusted family net income you get it all. Between $38,237 and $82,847 it is reduced by 7.0% (1 child), 13.5% (2 children), 19.0% (3 children), 23.0% (4+ children) of income above $38,237. Above $82,847 it is reduced by a fixed amount plus a smaller rate. The child disability benefit ($3,480 per child) is reduced by 3.2% or 5.7% of income over $82,847. With shared custody each parent gets half, based on their own income. Payment dates are the 20th or the business day before (statutory holidays not checked). British Columbia's family benefit is worked out in full. Other provinces show only their program and maximum, because the CRA does not publish every phase-out rate.

How this calculator works

The CCB starts from a maximum per child and drops as adjusted family net income rises:

  1. Maximum: $8,157 per child under 6 plus $6,883 per child aged 6 to 17.
  2. Below $38,237: the full maximum.
  3. Between $38,237 and $82,847: reduced by a percentage of income above $38,237. The percentage depends on how many children you have. It is 7% for one, 13.5% for two, 19% for three and 23% for four or more.
  4. Above $82,847: a fixed reduction ($3,123 for one child, up to $10,260 for four or more) plus a smaller percentage of income above $82,847.

The child disability benefit works the same way, with its own maximum and a single threshold. The annual amount is paid in twelve monthly instalments.

Worked example: $75,000 family income, one child under 6 and one aged 10

LineAmount
Maximum ($8,157 + $6,883)$15,040.00
Reduction: 13.5% × (75,000 − 38,237)− $4,963.01
Annual CCB$10,076.99
Monthly payment$839.75

Assumptions

  • Both parents filed their 2025 returns. The children live with you full time unless shared custody is selected.
  • Children are counted as of the payment month. A child turning 6 or 18 during the year changes later payments.
  • Only the BC Family Benefit is computed. Other provincial programs are named with their maximum, and Quebec’s Family Allowance is not shown.

How to get the Canada Child Benefit

Apply once per child. The CRA then recalculates every July from the tax returns you both filed. No application means no payments.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How much is the Canada Child Benefit in 2026?
For July 2026 to June 2027 the maximum is $8,157 a year ($679.75 a month) for each child under 6, and $6,883 a year ($573.58 a month) for each child aged 6 to 17. Families with adjusted net income of $38,237 or less get the maximum. Above that it is reduced.
Which year's income does the CCB use?
Last year's adjusted family net income. That is your net income (line 23600) plus your spouse's or common-law partner's, minus any Universal Child Care Benefit or RDSP income received, plus any UCCB or RDSP amounts repaid. Payments from July 2026 to June 2027 use 2025 returns, and both spouses must file every year. A raise this year does not reduce the benefit until next July, and a drop in income does not increase it until then either. RRSP and FHSA contributions lower net income, so they raise the CCB.
How does shared custody work?
When a child lives with each parent 40% to 60% of the time, each parent gets half of what they would receive with the child full time, based on their own adjusted family net income.
What is the child disability benefit?
An extra amount of up to $3,480 a year for each child approved for the disability tax credit. It is paid with the CCB. It is reduced by 3.2% (one child) or 5.7% (two or more) of adjusted family net income over $82,847.
Is the CCB taxable, and do I have to apply every year?
No, it is tax-free and does not count as income for other benefits. You apply once, usually at birth registration. It renews on its own as long as both parents file a return every year, even with no income. Miss a return and the payments stop.
Are provincial child benefits included?
Partly. The BC Family Benefit is calculated in full and added to the monthly total. For Ontario, Alberta, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI, Newfoundland and Labrador, Yukon, the NWT and Nunavut, the calculator names the program and its maximum but does not compute your amount, because the CRA does not publish every phase-out rate. Manitoba and Saskatchewan have no CRA-paid child benefit. Quebec's Family Allowance is paid by Retraite Québec, so it is not shown.
What happens when my child turns 6 or 18?
The month after a child turns 6, the 6-to-17 rate applies. Payments stop the month after the 18th birthday.
When is the CCB paid?
On the 20th of each month, or the last business day before if the 20th is a weekend or holiday. If the annual amount is under $240 it is paid once, in July.
